Myth 1: Manipur is a part of India.
Reality: Half of the people of India are not aware about the existence of Manipur as a state of India. They will think that it’s a foreign country.
Solution: The Centre Govt. should introduce a separate chapter on the North Eastern States within NCERT Syllabus.

Myth 2: Manipur is known as the ‘Jewel of India’ by Nehru.

Myth 4. The Centre Govt. has implemented sufficient developmental programmes in Manipur.
Reality: The developmental funds are often siphoned off by militants for their welfare and warfare. Thus not more than 30% of the funds reach the people.

Solution: Solving unemployment among the youth will certainly solve the militant problem.

Myth 6: The people of Manipur support the militants and they are hand in hand with them.
Reality: Not any more now. The never ending demand by the militants has resented the people and the militants are losing mass support day by day.
Solution: The Govt. should encourage the mass to stand for their rights. The Govt. should be ready to help the people in whatever steps they took against the militants.

Reality: True to some extent. But, militancy has now become one type of income generating industry within the state. If you want power and money you can form one militant group citing some cause.
Solution: Manipur has an international border with Myanmar, and it is close to Bangladesh and Nepal. Most of the weapons used by the militants are sneaked in from these routes. The international borders should be strictly sealed.
