ENDLESS LIST(1997*)
Manipur; My Manipur
The Blood pool state,
Where peace was murdered.
Expect no Mercy-
Was the theme of the day.
PEACE, HARMONY, UNITY and NORMALCY
Were the talks of the heads.
Strikes and Bandhs-
The common weapons of the democrat citizens;
With measures 144 CrPc.
Load shedding with high bills.
In the midst of it was corruption;
No Money, No Job,
No work, More pay.
Ufh ! when can I ever finish the list……
IT’S AND ENDLESS LIST.
[ This poem was written during the Kuki-Naga Clashed of 1995. It concerns the condition of Manipur during that time in some way or the other]

TIME (1996)
Gone, Gone, Going
Gone with the wind
Never will come back
Though you wish to be
Past is past
Forget about it.
Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy
Enjoy the time
It’s the golden moment
Never to be again ever
Aware or unaware
Lies your future here
Worry, Worry, Worry
Why worry? Don’t worry
It’s not with you May or may not be.
The good, the bad and the ugly was done by you.
TIME, what a problem it is ?

I CAME; I SAW; I CONQUERED; I LOST ( 1997)
I came
I saw (her);
My heart goes crazy,
She’s the queen of my heart,
I wanna express my feelings.
I conquered (her);
My heart feelslonely,
She’s the binding bond in my life,
I wanna be free.
I lost (her);
My heart feels restless,
She’s still in my memories,
I wanna be by her side.
LOVE, how amazing it is !
Every soul does;
Never feel at ease
When LOVE, LOVED and LOST.
It’s amazing.
[ I used to wonder what & how Love will be, but after my first love, I came to realized that Love is a never satisfying desire – when love, loved and lost. It’s just amazing]

Impromptu
By - Mengchiao
Keep away from sharp swords,
Don’t go near a lovely woman.
A sharp sword too close will wound your hand,
Woman’s beauty too close will wound your life.
The danger of the road is not in the distance,
Ten yards is far enough to break a wheel.
The peril of love is not loving too often,
A single evening can leave its wound in the soul.

LIFE IN MANIPUR (1998)
O Manipur, My Manipur;
The land locked state,
Where minorities control lifeline.
BANDH, BAN, BLOCKADE, STRIKE, RALLY,RAPE
Were the print of the day.
O Manipur, My Moneypool
The land of Sangai
Where were your jewels
And your Kashmir of the east scene
Confined to a pot belly?
Officers, Officials all corrupt officials
Useless office for the poor and needy
“The haves have more, the poor poorer
You cry I laugh; I live you die”.
Democracy, Democrazy O Demoncracy
To corrupt the corrupted
Justice denied equalitydelayed
O Lincoln awake, O Bapuji alive
Democracy ti’s a curse for us
Is a Demoncrazy?
[ This poem portrayed the social, political and economic condition of my home state Manipur during the 90’s.]

TO OUR DEAR DEPARTED K PYAR (1998*)
31st sunrise; so gay
Everything seems to be like before
But a news came like a bolt from the blue,
I never will believe this.
Seeing your face so pale
Your eyes never to blink again,
But it was you, only you
Like a log in a cabin,
Your face still smiles at me from a far distance,
But why no words; no hands to shake,
Why? Tell me why,
You haste away so soon.
We love you, care you and mourn thee,
But why not care us,
O ! Dear ever Pyar
May your soul rest in peace.
Farewell…………..farewell…….

THE LOST PERIWINKLE (1999)
Puzzling along the trodden path
The wind gusted my brow
Blowing past memoirs in pensive
Puzzled still by the words she whistled.
The dancing trees and the little swallow
Reminds me of the time
When we’re more than a friend
Still hoping for sunrise.
Trodding the hollow wood
I saw an inn to the dark hillside
Hoping there to be at her best
No soul to see, not even a ghost.
Lonely my life without thee
Wandering with misty eyes
O little periwinkle, stay back
I missed you.
[Periwinkle- a beautiful wild flower]

TO DAD WITH LOVE (1999*)
O loving daddy
You are dear; so cool
Lovely; so warm
Caring; so cruel
You are my god; my religion
You make life a pleasure
And living a leisure
Dad, dear daddy
When you are near I feel warm;
But if you are too close I feel boring
When you’re out I feel free;
But if you are away I feel lonely
When you’re happy I feel peaceful;
But if you’re laughing I feel guilty
Dad, thy love I wonder;
Selfish, omnipotent
You make my childhood happy
And taught me the golden path
Lots you care; I had my way
Still longed for you and home.
